Our 14-bedroom family run guest accommodation is in the heart of Hotel land in Torquay. Situated on the corner of Belgrave Road and Scarborough Road.

The following statement of access is for guidance only. Dimensions and times are approximate. If further guidance is required please do not hesitate to contact us at THE SOUTHBANK.


· Torquay station is less than 5 mins by taxi or is a 10-15 minute walk (some inclines are unavoidable.

· Torquay Coach station is less than 5minutes by taxi or a 15 minute walk (again hills are unavoidable)

· Exeter Airport is half and hour by car (allow on hour during busy summer season)

Arrival and Car parking

· Heading down Belgrave Road towards the seafront by car, turn left into Scarborough Road and then immediately left into Scarborough Place where, on your left, you will see THE SOUTHBANK car park.

· Our car park can accommodate up to 10 medium size cars parked prettily. On the rare occasion when no parking spaces are available, parking may be found on Scarborough Road where there are no restrictions.

· There is no rear entry to THE SOUTHBANK from the car park; guest will have to transport their luggage to the main front door or request help from the proprietors.

· Entry to and exit from the car park is the responsibility of the owner/driver.

· Cars are parked at owners risk

· The car park is floodlit at night

Main Entrance and Reception

· The main entrance to THE SOUTHBANK is situated in Belgrave Road and is accessed by eight steps (7inch rise 13inch tread) to the outer lobby door. If this door is locked there is a doorbell to the left of the door.

· There is another doorbell to the right of the inner lobby door. (Guest’s will be provided with a door key for both of the lobby doors – access by key is 24 hours a day)

· With regret there is no wheelchair access to THE SOUTHBANK

· The reception is a carpeted area 9 feet at its widest point narrowing to 4 feet at it’s thinnest

· We have a small br and lounge area accessed from the lobby through a 2 foot 3 inch arched door. There is a bar servery with banquet seating, tables and stools to accommodate approximately 20 people.


· The fourteen bedrooms of THE SOUTHBANK are arranged over three floors. Ground, first and second

· All bedrooms are ensuite, double-glazed, with digital Televisions, Tea and coffee making facilities and centrally heated during the colder parts of the year

Ground Floor Rooms

· On the ground floor we have two single rooms: room 2 with a shower and room 4 with a bath

· Room 1 is a double/twin with a shower ensuite

· Room 3 is a family suite comprising two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. The ensuite has a bath and a shower.

· There are thirteen steps from the ground floor to the mezzanine and then seven more to: -

First Floor Rooms

· Room 6, double with ensuite shower

· Room 8, family suite comprising to rooms, one children’s room with bunk beds and one parent room with a double bed. The ensuite has a bath and shower

· Room 9, family room with a double bed and bunks. The ensuite has a shower

· Room 10, Double/twin with a shower ensuite

· Room 11, double with ensuite shower

There are seven steps from the 1st floor to the next mezzanine and then twelve more to: -

Second Floor Rooms

· Room 15, family room with a double and two single beds. This room has a shower en suite.

· Room 17,family room with a double and single bed. This room has a shower ensuite

· Room 19, double with bath ensuite

· Room 20, double with a shower ensuite

· Room 21, double with a shower ensuite

The Dining Area

· The dining room is located on the lower ground floor and is accessed from he ground floor by fifteen steps. The dining area comprises three inter-connecting rooms and can accommodate 30 people at one sitting


· All doors, with the exception of the first floor are 30-minute fireproof doors with a minimum width of 2 foot 6 inch

· The central stairwell linking all floors has a single banister and all the stairs are a uniform 6 and half-inch rise with a ten inch tread with a width of 3 foot

· All corridors and stairs are carpeted

· There are fire doors at the entrance to every corridor or landing
